A Computer program for the preliminary design of fishing vessels (FVPDS) is presented. It is suitable for PC/XT/AT, using Basic Language, requiring printer, drafting machine and high-resolution display. The program consists of 12 modules covering all the necessary calculations including: principal dimensions and parameters lines, stability, hydrostatic calculation, resistance and propulsion, estimated ship motions and vibration, etc. FVPDS has been used by Dalian Fishing Co. with good economic effects.
