This article briefly presents Professor Liu Dongsheng's view on technical translation.Professor Liu, a well-known geologist of China, believes that the science of technicaltranslation can be established, that technical translation is an activity with a permanentlife force which lies primarily in serious and careful translation itself, and that thetranslators should pay special attention to renderings from Chinese into foreign languagesand to the translation of materials on advanced sciences.
