清代扬州学者的数学研究

The Mathematical Research of the Scholars in Yangzhou during the Qing Dynasty

扬州,是我国历史文化名城之一,素以历史久远,富庶繁华,人文荟萃而焜耀史编。清代扬州,乃南北漕运和盐运之咽喉枢纽,经济繁荣昌盛,巨商大贾,争至为荣;文化灿烂夺目,人才奋兴,名儒云集,为当时东南地区的经济文化中心之一。清代扬州经济文化的繁荣,给扬州学者进行学术研究创造了优厚的条件。

Yangzhou is one of the famous cities of the Chinese history and cu|ture. During the Qing Dynasty distinguished mathematicians appeared in hatches with a lot of achievements of research and high attainments. They conducted serious studies on both the traditional Chinese mathematics and the Western mathematics disseminated into China. The most famous among these mathematicians include Jiao Xun (1763-1820), Ruan Yuan (1764-1849), Luo Shilin (1774-1853) and Chen Honyao (1648-1722).Jiao Xun put forward some fundamental theories for the Chinese algorithm and was a forerunner of research 5n symbolic mathematics in China. Ruan Yuan compiled 46-volumed Chou Ren Zhuan concerning 243 Chinese mathematicians and astronomers of the Qing Dynasty and 37 Western mathematicians and astronomers. This article gives comparatively full and accurate introductions to their research achievements and publications.
