摘要
一、铸钱工艺的发展中国古代金属货币制作有三个显著的特点:一是历史悠久,延续时间长;二是数量巨大,种类繁多;三是以铸造成形为唯一的制作手段。
This article, a systematic investigation of the Song coining technology, is founded on textual research and examination of material objects as well as a comparison with the coining technology of Ming-Qing and ancient Japan. The development of ancient Chinese coining technology is shown here to have undergone four stages. The new process-taking the 'mother. coin' as a model and using a clay mould containing more sand than that of pre-Tang times and capable of producing 64 coins-fell into a pattern in the Northern Song Dynasty. From then on to the Qing Dynasty, there had been no major, changes in the molding process. Judging from their high quality, Northern Song bronze coins can be considered the peak in the whole history of ancient Chinese coining.
