ON CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETATION

Interpretation is "consecutive" when itis given after the original speaker has finish-ed a "part" of his statement-a "part"which is capable of ranging from one "sen-tence" to a fairly substantial "part" of aduration of ten minutes or of an even long-er duration. Interpretation is "simultaneo-us" when the interpreter speaks while listen-ing to the on-going "part" of the originalspeech. With this bit of clarification, Ishall submit briefly the following relevantpoints.
