I should first mention the collective style of work in preparing the translation of VolumeV which was admirable.We all had only one objective which was to make the translationas good as possible,and everything was subordinated to that.The second point I would like to make is that every effort was made to correct andimprove at each stage right to the very end,right up to and including the page proofs.This is essential.Of course it is virtually impossible to eliminate all errors;the fairly obviousones should have been disposed of before the two final corrections,and the process ismuch more difficult where it is not a question of eliminating errors but of choosing bet-
