论明清之交容美土司的对外策略

External Policy of Rongmei Chieftain at the Turn between Ming and Qing Dynasties

明清之交,面临南明、清廷、农民军和吴三桂等势力在鄂西南地区的交织,加上周边土司的制衡,容美土司选择了以自保为主的对外策略,尽量避免与各种势力产生正面的冲突。这种策略不仅保持了土民社会的基本稳定,还为容美土司家族文化的传承和复兴赢得了时机,更为民族关系的和谐发展创造了条件,对土家族历史文化的发展走向有着深刻的影响。

At the turn of Ming and Qing dynasties, Rongmei Chieftain was confronted with infiltration of Southern Ming, Qing Government, peasant army and Wu Sangui' s rebellious force, as well as the counterbalance of the surrounding chieftains, so it chose self-protection as its external policy to avoid head-on conflict with other powers. This policy not only maintained the basic stability of the local society, but also helped inherit and revive the family culture of chieftain, and at the same time, it helped create conditions for harmonious relationships between ethnic groups, which exerted profound influences on the development of history and culture of Tujia nationality.
