“估衣”考释

现代汉语词典中出现的"估(gù)衣"语义来源推测有二:一是由佛经文献中表示寺院僧衣竞卖活动的"估衣"通过词义扩大而来;二是本为"故衣",表示民间市场上买卖的旧衣服,后变换字形得到"估衣"。这里的"估"是"故"的俗字。运用词义分析法、因声求义法进行考证,认为后一种推测可能性较大。对于该词词义的解释,各版本现代汉语需依照现实情况作出更加详尽准确的释义。

As for Guyi (估衣),ModernChinese Dictionary offers two semantic resources.One explana-tion is related to the auction of monks’and nuns’clothes in Buddhist literature.It is from the expansion of meaning of a word.The other explanation refers to故衣,which means second-hand clothes in the folk mar-ket,and 估 is the non-standard form of故.According to semantics and phonetics,the article thinks that the second speculation could be correct.And various versions of modern Chinese dictionaries should present more detailed and accurate explanation of this word.
