约瑟夫·海勒的《第二十二条军规》(Catch-22)是美国荒诞派小说中最有代表性的作品之一。作品的思想主题——世界是冷酷、陌生的,不可理解的;人与人之间的思想无法沟通;人与现实脱离,一切都是丑恶、荒谬、毫无意义的,等等——不仅展示于内容中,尤其体现在小说语言的运用上。本文根据奥斯汀——舍尔的言语行为理论和格赖斯的会话含意理论,研究这部小说的语言技巧,特别是“违例”语言现象,揭示作者运用特殊语言技巧产生的种种艺术效果。

The paper presents a pragmatic study of Joseph Heller's Catch 22 using Austin and Searle's Speech Act Theory and Grice's conversational implicature. It studies the various techniques employed in the fictional language i with a view to reveal how the author manages to bring form and content into an integrated whole.
