Abstract In this paper, the author makes a theoretical distinction between analytic logic and probability logic by saying that only the latter fits for the logical computation involved in the inference process. By theoretically calculating the knowledge unit matching steps of a sample dialogue and eliciting the response from a number of subjects over the same data, the author reaches the conclusion that when the counting exceeds a certain saturation point, irrelevance occurs. The author does this as a supplement to inference theeries as proposed by Grice, Sperber and Wilson
