This kiln-site is situated at Linjiang Village,Tianyu Township,Ji'an City,Jiangxi Province,on a slope of Bojiling Hill at the western foot of Tianyu Mountain, with the boundary between Ji'an City and Jishui County running in the vicinity and the Ganjiang River flowing on the west. Here, two seasons of rescuing excavation were carried out from September 1990 to January 1991 by opening 15 test pits in a total area of above 2400 sq m,which resulted in the discovery of a ruined porcelain-making workshop, two U-shaped kilns and more than 16,000 tools, kiln implements and porcelain object, etc. The Linjiang kiln is a newly-discovered important porcelain-works belonging to the system of Jizhou Yao.Its workshop has a regular layout and great size;being the best in preservation among the vestiges of that sort recorded up to now,the remains allow the whole procession of porcelain making to be reconstructed and thus play a significant role in the study of the history of Chinese ceramics. The Linjiang porcelain-works began its production in the Five Dynasties period; through development and improvement in Northern and Southern Song times,it fully flourished from the Yuan to the middle Ming period;then,in the late Ming,it declined and finally stopped its function.
