摘要
在众多的英语形容词中,有一种以a-开头的形容词,语法学家(如Quirk等人)把它们称作“a-形容词”(a-adjectives)。a-形容词与众不同,因为大多数形容词既可作定语又可作表语,而a-形容词却一般只能作表语。
This paper deals with the origin and formation of a-adjectives as well as their features in grammatical functions and structure. The criteria of distinguishing a-adjectives from a-adverbs are also explored by the author.
