The expeditions led by Kozui OTANI,which were sent out three times during theperiod 1902-14.Of the historical relics collected by the expeditions,a part was housed inthe respective museum at Seoul in Korea,at Dalian and at Lushun,while the remainingpart fell into the hands of Japanese antiquarians. Among the documents,those in Chinese make up the largest number,while those inUigur the next largest.In this article,I shall present the Uigur documents of sale andloan contracts,They comprise all the documents of the kind from Otani’s collection butone which had been already brought out in articles,Although the number of the docu-ments of this description in his collection may be not large as those in the collections inother countries such as Germany and Russia. It is worthy of note that the former in-cludes two complete documents,a contract document regarding a sale of land and anoth-er regarding a loan of millet.There are,indeed,little difference in form between the documents presented in this article and those so far known, but nevertheless there are some expressions and facts of interest deserving special mention which I think will fur- nish valuable materials to the comparative studies of such documents.
