汉长安城窑址发掘报告

EXCAVATIONS OF KILN-SITES AT HAN CHANG’AN CITY

本世纪五十年代中期以来,考古工作者开始对汉长安城遗址开展了大规模考古勘察,在汉长安城西北部(今西安市未央区六村堡乡六村堡、相家巷村附近)采集到不少汉代陶俑。为进一步了解汉长安城中的手工业遗址分布情况,我队从1990年开始对汉长安城西北部进行铲探,发现了大面积的制陶、冶铸和造币手工业遗址。在此基础上。

In 1990,21 kiln sites (Nos.2-22) with a large number of terra-cotta funeral figu res of nude human beings were discovered south of Xiangjiaxiang Village,L iucunbu Town ship,Weiyang District,Xi'an City,within the 'Western Market' in the northwestern corner of ruined Hart Chang'an City.The kiln-sites are gathered in three groups forming a triangular plan,with the intervals between groups measuring 29-62m.The first gro- up includes 7 kiln-sites arranged from north to south;the second group,8,from west to east;and the third one,6,from north to south.The kilns in the same groups are arran- ged neatly,at intervals of 2-3m. These pottery-making kilns are roughly the same in both type and size,and generally consist of an anterior chamber,a furnace,a baking chamber,and a flue. The objects unearthed are mainly terra-cotta funeral figures of nude human beings, large in number and similar in shape.They have no arms and measure 50-60cm in height.Most of them represent males,and a few females. Chronologically,these kilns can't be earlier than the end of King Jingdi's reign or the beginning of King Wudi's reign:the latest limiting point must be the end of the Western Han period.
