Abstract Africa is now a continent inflicted with the most numerous wars and chaos in the world. The internationalization of Africa's internal conflicts has become a major feature of the political situation in Africa in post-Cold-War era. The trend of international interyention either with the UN or the African regional organizations as the main body is on rise. To handle properly the relationship between the international intervention and the state soveriegnty, to reduce its negative effects and to project the realization of the three major objectives of stability, scourity and development by African countries relying on their own collective strength-these are the formidable tasks lying ahead of Africa at present. Africa's collective interventionism is a new strategic thought which the African countries, starting from the post-cold-war realities, have created in order to get rid of the internal conflicts that are seriously undermining Africa's survival and development. As an important strategic option, the OAU has passed corresponding resolutions and adopted a series of moves in recent years Facts have proved that Afican countries are capable of settliug their internal contradictions and conflicts through their own collective efforts and this will help the upkeep of regional security and it is also a contribution to the causeof world peace.
