Objective To observe the curative effect of Tongru dan and low frequency pulse electric stimulation(LFPES) in treating postpartum hypogalactia(PH) with deficiency of Qi and blood syndrome. Methods 90 PH patients with deficiency of Qi and blood syndrome were randomly assigned to treatment group(n=30), Chinese medicine group(n=30) and physical therapy group(n=30). The treatment group received Tongru dan and LFPES, Chinese medicine group received Tongru dan, and physical therapy group received LFPES for three days. The changes of curative effect, milk yield, TCM symptoms improvement were observed. Results Comparison of comprehensive effect: the total effective rate of treatment group was 93.3%, Chinese medicine group was 83.3%, physical therapy group was 76.7%, and there were significant differences among three groups(P<0.05). Comparison of milk yield effect: the total effective rate of treatment group was 93.3%, Chinese medicine group was 83.3%, physical therapy group was 73.3%(P<0.05). The TCM symptoms improvement in treatment group, Chinese medicine group was respectively better than that of physical therapy group after the treatment. Conclusion Oral Chinese medicine combined with LFPES which was used to treat PH with deficiency of Qi and blood syndrome could increase the secretion of milk effectively, and improve TCM symptoms significantly. The clinical application of this method is safe and effective, non-toxic and side effect.
