Analysis on the Application Factors of Chinese-English Euphemism

中西方使用委婉语的出发点近乎相同,但是语言被称作文化的载体,不同的语言反映了不同国家、不同民族的历史渊源、文化风俗、社会价值观、思维模式。委婉语也不例外,我们可以从中西方委婉语的应用中看到其反射出来的文化差异。文章认为,应当研究中英委婉语的文化差异,才能减少跨国际交流的阻碍,使得交谈者双方的谈话顺利得体地完成。

Focus of attention that Chinese and Western use the euphemism are almost the same, however,languages are referred to as the carriers of cultures, different language reflects different historical origin, cultural custom, social value and thinking mode of different country and nation, so is euphemism. We can find the cultural differences reflected from the application of Chinese and Western euphemism. This article considers that it is necessary to study the cultural difference of Chinese and English euphemism so as to reduce the international communication obstacles and promote the conversation of both sides to complete smoothly and gracefully.
