Taking Further Steps to Run TV University Characteristically

《关于广播电视大学贯彻〈中国教育改革和发展纲要〉的意见》明确指出,到本世纪末至下世初广播电视大学发展的总目标是:“立足国情、适应经济建设和社会发展需要、扩大开放办学的程度、发挥现代化教学手段的优势。

Comparing with adult and general colleges and universities, TV university has the following three characteristics: to conduct distance teaching through multimedia of TV、radio、video and computer; to set up a national teaching management network according to the principle of 'overall in planning and graded in management' headed by central TV university which provides learning opportunities to all candidates by offering them a wide range of disciplines meeting the needs of socialist economic development. TV university with its distinct openness, extensive adaptability and flexibility. The above mentioned three points are closely interconnected. TV university is a new type of adult higher school with the characteristic of adult college and university as well as the characteristic of general higher school.At present, there is a tendency in TV university to neglect its own ad-vantages and weaken its own function while copying general higher colleges and universities. My personal opinion is that we are ruired to be aware of the following works to be done:First, take a correct attitude towards the guiding principles for running a school and allocate more funds in teaching, the faculty in TV university should conduct teaching strictly by planned audio visual hours, which will be regarded as the important norm for the assessment.Second, emancipate the mind, pay more attention to the expanding of openness in running a school; extend the way of admission of open learning students; strengthen teaching management; guarantee the teaching qualityThird, attention should be paid to the function of network system, especially to giving full play to the function of the TV university at the prefecture and city level.
