India had for long unbroken but unsatisfactory ties with her neighboring countries in Southeast Asia. In recent years India commits herself to the 'looking eastward policy',i. e. giving strength to the development of economic relations to the ASEAN nations, particularly with Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. There is increasing evidences supporting an optimistic view about its prospects.
