在阐述大西南三沿开放格局形成、对外开放的基础条件与区位优势、西南周边国家和地区的经济发展态势的基础上分析论证了大西南在三沿开放中的地位与作用。

It first analyzes the formation of the Three Borderings (i. e. on rivers, the sea, and foreign countries) ofthe opening situation of the Southwest, its basic conditions and locational preponderance, and the economy developing states of the peripheral regions and countries, then demonstrates its role and status in the opening, and finally points out the major problems it confronts and some countermeasures to accelerate its opening speed.
