Abstract Iran is one of the big countries in the Middle East. In order to restore and develop its national economy and regain its position as a regional great power in the Gulf and the Middle East, iran will place great emphasis on its foreign policies, especially ill the following aspects: Firstly, to strengthen the geo-diplomacy with its neighbouring countries3 Secondly, to rebuild or establish normal trade and economic relationship with the West countries; And thirdly, to resist against the isolation and sanctions enforced by tile US. This new foreign policy strategy pursued by iran is the inevitable outcome of the drastic change of situations in the Middle East since 1990, and it will undoubtedly exert profound impact on the geopolitical pattern of Asia as well as the Middle East. It will also bring about a new period in which iran will try to reach reconciliation with its neighbouring countries.
