摘要
魏特夫的《东方专制主义》中译本出版以后,史学界一些同志在认真研究的基础上,对此书进行了评论,我认为这是一件很有意义的工作。《东方专制主义》从问世之后,就是一本很有争议的著作。魏特夫的反马克思主义观点,理所当然地受到一些国家的马克思主义学者的批判。甚至西方一些正直的资产阶级学者,对《东方专制主义》书中强烈的反共色彩也不以为然。但是这本书在国际上也得到一些人的称赞,有的人甚至把它和马克斯·韦伯的《经济与社会》相提并论。几十年来,在一些国际论坛上,无论是关于亚细亚生产方式或是关于第三世界发展道路的讨论,都可以看到有些人引用魏特夫的观点。
The article points out that Wittfogel's understanding of Asian society is initially referred to a matter of right or wrong in theory though it departs from Marxist standpoint at the outset. The 'Oriental Despotism' is, however, a product suitable to the needs of the imperialist cold - war policy after the Second World War in the service of the political proposition against the Communism. The article emphatically exposes the misrepresentation of Marxist theoretical legacy made by Wittfogel and points out that his interpretation of China ' s history is mostly farfetched and voluntary, so that the basic points of view in 'Oriental Despotism' can't stand the test of China's historical reality.
