Language is the carrier and synthesis of culture.Mastery of a language necessitates the understanding of the culture the language belongs to,especially the conventional culture.The distinctive differences between Chinese and Western conventional culture are reflected in such three aspects as daily conversation,dieting and appellation language of the two languages.Therefore,the knowledge of the Chinese and Western conventional cultural differences has important significance in cross-cultural communication.
