趋化因子在白细胞迁移过程中起着重要的作用。眼部炎症 ,如感染、过敏反应、自身免疫病等的显著特点就是白细胞浸润。在多种眼部炎症中发现许多趋化因子的存在 ,并与白细胞的浸润水平高度相关。

Chemokines play an important role in the process of leukocyte traffic. The salient feature in ocular inflammatory conditions, such as infections, hypersensitivity reactions or autoimmune diseases, is the presence of infiltrating leukocytes. Many chemokines have been shown to be present in numerous ocular diseases, the presence of chemokines is highly correlated with the level of leukocyte infiltration within the diseased tissue. A greater understanding of the complexities of the chemokines that mediate cell adhesion and transmigration may assist in the regulation and control of various pathological disease states.
