Control and prevention of periodontal disease is an important aspect of public health,which is closely related to people's health.Oral prophylaxis is the basic medical care in control and prevention of periodontal disease.This article holds that the oral prophylaxis is widely recognized as a mature,safe and effective way to control and prevent periodontal disease,which is proved by a long-term clinical use.Oral prophylaxis is an appropriate treatment with regard to project costs.The author suggest the inclusion of oral prophylaxis for the national basic medical insurance clinics project.
