This paper analyzed and summarized the major reasons and preventive countermeasures for the accidents of mechanical and electrical equipment as well as hoisting and haulage systems according to the statistics and investigation on safety accidents in coalmines.The paper also discussed the key safety techniques for ensuring safety of mechanical and electrical equipment as well as hoisting and haulage systems and their development trend,which are of great significance for enhancing the level of safety management and the capability of preventing accidents in coal industry and formulating and implementing the strategic program of the national '12th five-year plan of science and technology' in mine safety.
