摘要
《城市的世界》一书中引入"地点"一词,摒弃单纯的空间研究,将社会、文化、情感等"软性条件"注入其中,为城市空间研究寻找到了新的契口。有社会活动发生及社会关系存在的空间才是由其组建的城市真实价值的体现,就如同书中谈到的"地点"一样,空间需要有情感的注入。安东尼·奥罗姆(Anthony M.Orum)和陈向明以城市学和社会学为基础,在全球范围内搜寻以"地点"研究为核心的城市代表,并在本书中以美国城市为研究样本,呈现出城市的复杂多样性。从欧美到中国,从消费意识到政治手段,无一不在说明消失的"地点"一词的重要。
In the book of the world of cities,pure research of space is abandoned,and the word'place', together with other'soft conditions'such as society, culture,emotion and so on,is introduced as a new point of urban space research.The space filled with social relations is the manifestation of true values of cities which consist of such space.The same as the'place'referred m this book,space is also something emotional.Based on the urban studies and the sociology,Anthony M.Orum and Xiangming Chen search for representatives of cities in worldwide where the research of'place'is the key factor.In this book,American cities are chosen as study samples in order to show the complex diversity of cities.From Europe and America to China,from the.consumer consciousness to political means,they are all explaining the importance of the disappearing word'place'.
