文化与词汇教学

语言是文化的基础,没有语言,就没有文化;从另一个方面看,语言受文化的影响,反映文化。而词汇是语言的基本要素,也是语言这个庞大机构的支柱。词汇不光有词形而且有意义,尤其是反映英语文化的含义。本文主要讨论了在英语语言教学中文化和词汇教学的关系。一方面,词汇是连接文化的桥梁;另一方面,文化因素也影响对词汇含义的理解。因此,词汇教学不能只教拼写和语法,把文化因素放在一边;而应该同时介绍文化知识。所以词汇教学离不开文化介绍,深刻把握词汇文化内涵能提高学生的语言和交际能力。

Vocabulary,as a cardinal element of language,is the fundamental pillar that supports the huge system of a language.Vocabulary has not only form but also meaning,especially cultural connotative meaning which reflects English culture.The paper discusses the relationship between culture and vocabulary teaching in ELT.Vocabulary is the bridge linking culture ;on the other hand,cultural factors affect vocabulary to make the building of meaning.Thus,vocabulary teaching cannot only aim at the forms or the grammatical factors,putaside the cultural factors;should involve cultural knowledge introducing.Understanding cultural meaning in addition to denotative meaning of words in vocabulary teaching will strengthen students'linguistic competence and their communi-cative competence.
