The Attention and Cognition of Education and Examination in Fujian in Late Qing Dynasty by Western Missionaries

晚清时期,西方传教士对福建教育与考试给予诸多关注。他们对福建学校教育体制和教育具体实践场景、科举考试制度和科场的细节以及教育与考试存在的弊端等进行记述与认识。基于这些认识,传教士们着力兴办教会学校和引入西式教育,并鼓吹基督教文明,为福建地方教育带来变革气象。

In the late Qing dynasty, western missionaries give much attention to education and examination in Fujian. They record and cognize the schooling system and the educational practice,imperial examination system and details of the practical examination as well as the malpractice of education and examination. Based on these cognition, missionaries exert themselves to set up mission schools and introduce Western-style education and advocate the educational reform which is brought christian civilization in Fujian.
