Literary theories of Edgar Allen Poe are one of his legacies left to the western literary world, and they were also an important part of Allen Poe studies in the west. Within the time span of less than 200 years, his theories have gone through up-and-down with the study focus shifting from his aesthetic thoughts to fictional theories and also from the single piece of work to the comprehensive system.
