二战结束后到20世纪70年代,中日两国外交关系基本处于"冰封"状态。"吉田书简"对中日关系这种局面的形成,起着重要影响。吉田内阁对华政策的核心是以"吉田书简"为原点,在"台湾政权"和"大陆政权"之间进行"等距离外交",实质是在对华政策中推行"两个中国"的外交政策。这种"一中一台"的"两个中国"政策对战后日本对华政策影响深远。

From the end of the World WarⅡto 1970's, the diplomacy between China and Japan stood in'the iced seal'state basically.In the formation of Sino-Japan relations,'the Yoshida Letter'played an important role.The core of Yoshida cabinet's policy to China was based upon the principles of the Yoshida Letter and carried out the equidistant diplomacy to Taiwan and China's Mainland,which was essentially a'two Chinas'policy.This'two Chinas'policy reflected by the'one Taiwan and one Chi- na'policy had profound influence to Japan's policy to China in post-war period.
