本文选择唐朝后期北方边地与活跃在那里的民族势力做研究的因缘,是因为作者认为长城地区处在农耕、游牧两大文明交汇的核心地带,具有沟通、联络异质文化的功能,对深化唐朝后期北方社会乃至整体情形的了解具有典型意义。作者以此为开端,拟就该地区具体相关问题进行探索。

The author in the article expresses why he chooses the northern frontier situation and those ethnic groups there in the late Tang to study. As the center of the exchanging between agricultural society and nomadic lives, the northern frontier areas play an important role of connecting different cultures, different lifestyles and different peoples during that time. If we study it in detail, we will get more information about the northern society in the late Tang. As the beginning of his research schedule, the author will try to bring to light the situation and those ethnic group issues one by one in the future.
