There are about 367 million boys and girls younger than 18 years of age in China, accounting for roughly one quarter of its total population of 1.3 billion. These juveniles are given special protection and care, as they are seen as the future of China and the Chinese nation and therefore often referred to as the "rising morning sun over China."
