25年前,初识祖光是在天津泥人张泥塑工作室,那时他的作品就已不同于传统的泥人,而具有时代感和思想性。其中,《踏新途》以生动的造型语言表现了那个时代中国青年激情燃烧的岁月与时代精神。 祖光是同龄人中的佼佼者,路,本可以顺利地走下去,并可成为泥塑名家——吴祖光。然而再听到祖光的信息,他已经下海了。惋惜与怅然在我心头挥之不去。二十几年后,国画家李津先生几度邀我再见见祖光及其作品,便产生了令人震撼的一幕……

Twenty-five years ago, I began to know Zuguang in clay figurine sculptor, Zhang's clay sculpture studio. At that time, his works differed from traditional clay figurines because of the contemporaneity and ideological content. After twenty years, between material allure of money and spiritual pursuit, Zuguang determinedly chose the latter, and then had ten years of 'self-creation' behind closed doors and achievement-brilliance and works-abundance today. When Zuguang's sculpture appreciated, it can embody selfless pursuit and huge dedication, and his works refracts the author's profound cultural attainment and outstanding character.
