General rules of English can get you a long way, but both the beauty and the bane (本义:毒药;祸害) of English is that there are exceptions to everything. Pluralizing(使成为复数)words isn’t always a simple matter of adding an s on the end, and switching(转换)a word from masculine(阳性的)form to feminine(阴性的)form isn’t always a matter of adding ess.
