摘要
As teachers it is important for us to evaluate, and adapt teaching materials to meet our teaching and students' learning needs in order to maximize learning potentials. It is therefore essential we establish the criteria for evaluation and the practical adaptation of English Language textbooks for Chinese use. The writer suggests pragmatic guidelines for such evaluation and adaptation. These guidelines are offered in terms of three qualities, three dimensions.
教材是学生学习和教师教学的工具。多数教材都会把教学内容与学习过程结合起来进行编写,使它成为学习的指南。因此教材的内容不只是知识的陈述,而是知识内容与学习方法的结合体。但不是所有的教材都能达到这一目标,改变这一现状,就是要更改教材的不适之处。笔者经过多年的调查表明:教师在自觉和不自觉中对教材施行了更改,这是很有必要的,但应对教材更改提出评估准则。笔者通过阅读语言学、语用学、社会学的书籍,设定评估和更改教材的准则为质量原则、语言范围以及社会范围。
