followed during 1991 - 1994 and 1997 - 1999 using data collected by the Jiaozhuo Bay Ecological Research Station (JERS), China Ecological Research Network (CERN) at 10 investigation stations. Time series analysis revealed that P . pungens f. pungens was present at most stations and most abundant mainly in spring, had a secondary maximum in winter; and that the total density was less abundant in summer and autumn. P . pungens f. pungens densities changed drastically in winter but was relatively stable in other seasons. The time series pattern at different seations were quite similar, although the abundance decreased from river esturines to the bay and to the outside the bay.
