Words Speak the Mind and Change with Political Situation——On the Difference between Liu Yuxi's Earlier and Later Composition of Poems singing of history and Reason for the Differences

中唐诗人刘禹锡在咏史诗的创作上取得了很大的成就。从创作时间来看,可以分为前后两个时期,前后期的内容有明显的不同,这一现象与他本人前后期境遇、心态的变化有关,也是不同的时政局势的反映。

In the middle of Tang Dynasty, Liu Yuxi achieved great success in composing poems singing of the past and history. His composition of verses can be divided into 2 periods, as far as the contents are concerned. The verses composed in the earlier period are obviously different from those produced in the later time, This is due to the change of the political situation, of hissocial status and of his feelings toward life.
