Significance of Ecological Protection and Its Developmental Construction in China's Mountainous Areas:In Commemoration of the International Year for Mountainous Areas in 2002

我国丘陵山区占国土总面积的69%,人口占39%.根据山区资源丰富,生物具有多样性,山是宝库,是中华之水塔的特点,明确了新纪世山区产业化建设将会有跨越式发展,是必要的和可能的,提出了山区建设总的基本思路、山区生态建设的内容、山区产业化建设的内容、方法和要求.

Sixtynine percent of China's land area is of the hilly and upland type, and 39 percent of the national population is inhabited in the hilly and upland areas, where an abundance of natural resources exists enriched with a wealth of biological diversity. The hills and mountains that are covered with trees and other plants are like living water towers. In the new century, it is believed necessary and possible for the industrial construction in those areas to be developed at a striding speed. For this end, the general guidelines, contents, methods and requirements of ecoindustrial construction in those areas are proposed.
