Derong County of Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture,located in the southwest corner of Sichuan Province looks like a peninsula extending between Zhongdian and Deqin counties of Yunnan Province on the map and borders Daocheng County in the northeast.Situated in the Hengduan Mountain system at the joining area between the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau,the area features complex geological structure and landform.In the territory of less than 3,000 sq km scattered are numerous big mountains and deep valleys,where many rivers flow through such as Jinsha, Dingqu,Shuoqu,Mayi and Gangqu rivers. So,the name 'Derong' means 'a land of valleys' in Tibetan. With subtropical climate,little rainfall, Derong boasts high mountains and precipitous paths with fascinating scenery. The people here are simple and honest.So,it is a place quite worthy of development for tourism purpose.Meanwhile,the area is hailed as the Sunny Valley as it enjoys plenty of sunshine and is full of hope.
