FAMOUS LIQUOR FEST, A SUCCESS IN LUZHOU

1999年9月9日,第二届中国四川名酒文化节暨第九届泸州国际名酒节在泸州市隆重开幕。往本世纪“九”字最多的日子,同时又在驰名中外的历史文化名城——酒城泸州举办此次盛会,其声势、规模、影响之大,可谓盛况空前。作为四川省新闻代表团的成员,我有幸参加了名酒节丰富多彩的活动。在泸州人热情的怀抱里,在古城浓浓的文化氛围中,在美不胜收的川南秀色里,我情不自禁陶醉其中。成就辉煌话江阳泸州地处长江之北,故古称江阳。其东北与重庆相连,东南与贵州接壤,西南与云南毗邻,背倚大娄山,

Luzhou,a famous city in China,known as the Jiangyang prefecture in ancient times, is endowed with beautifulmountains and rivers, and boasts its hardworking and talented people on this land with abundant resources. It is 2150 years since the founding of Luzhou City in the 6th year of the Qianyuan Emperor's reign in the Western Han Dynasty, (151 B.C). In the past, Luzhou had the fame of the metropolis in southwest China, and today enjoys the titles of Chinese Famous City with a Long History and Rich Cultures', 'State-level Hygienic City' and 'State-level City of Supporting the Government and the Army Cherishing the Civilians'. Luzhou is honored as the Wine City for its liquor-wine-making. Located at the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Tuojiang River, linking Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou and Chongqing, Luzhou has 3 districts (i.e.Jiangyang, Longmatan, and Naxi Districts) and 4 counties (i.e.Luxian, Hejiang, Xuyong and Gulin Counties) under its jurisdiction, covering an area of 12,243 sq km with a population of 4.6 million. Luzhou has long been known as a land of plenty and as the Granary of Sichuan, thanks to the mild climate and plentiful sunshine here. Super fruits like lichee, and longan grown here deserve their age-old reputation. Railways, highways and waterways crisscross Luzhou, plus No.321 State Highway running by. Luzhou's Lantian Airport provides non-stop flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kunming, Guiyang, Beihai, Chengdu, Chongqing etc. Other attactions in the area of Luzhou also enrich one another's beauty, for instance, the Luzhou Longan Orchard, the Fobao National Forest Park, the Huangjing Virgin Forest Park, the Eight-layer Cave, the Red Dragon Lake,the Red Earth Mountain,the Painting Sketch Stream,the Dragon Fountain Cave, the Chunqiuci Temple, the Penholder Mountain,the Jade Toad Maintain, the Longlaoqiao Bridge, the Longmantan Park, the Goddess Cave, the Fangshan Mountain, the Nine-lion Mountain, the Jade Dragon Lake, the Phoenix Lake, all of which are favored and highly appreciated by tourists at home and abroad for their rich cultural values and unique gorgeous landscapes.
