Qu Lingjun, now 48, is the member of the Chinese Artists Association and the vice chairman of the Baoji Artists Association, Shaanxi Province. His works were displayed at the 6th and 7th China Art Exposition and even in Hong Kong and London. His paper carving works Dragon Boat and Palace in the Moon won gold medal prize issued by the International Inventors Association at the 8th Scientific Invention Expo. in US. He is known as King of Paper Boat in the press world. Unexpectedly, he is self-taught, never studied in any college of fine arts. He absorbs Chinese traditional paper cutting skills and combines them with western conventional paper carving techniques to create Chinese Dragon Boat, a large splendid art gem that is carved with exquisite workmanship, also an embodiment of his painstaking efforts and ingenious composition.
