VIEWING WATERFALL IN CHISHUI

常听人说,贵州北部古城赤水市有“瀑布之都”的美誉;游历赤水,观赏瀑布,乃人生一大乐事!久慕盛名,将信将疑。8月中,幸得开第友相邀前往,方觉名不虚传,真有过之而无不及! 身临赤水,犹如来到一个奇妙的瀑布世界:满眼岭秀峰媚,飞泉流碧。无论绿波淼淼的楠竹海里,还足古木森森的桫椤林中,仪态万千、风格迥异的瀑布举目皆是。磅礴奔放者,“挂流三百丈,喷壑数十里”;轻柔徐缓者,“飞珠敞轻霞,流沫拂穹石”;敦厚粗犷者,如山野村夫;修长纤细者,似大家闺秀;凝重者势比千钧,轻款者飘若梦幻;而最能勾魂摄魄者。

Chishui City, an old town in northern Guizhou Province enjoys the reputation of Waterfall Capital. When set foot on Chishui waterfall area, I felt as if I were in a wonderful world of waterfalls. The breathtaking scenery of undulating green mountains and dashing crystal waterfalls feasted my eyes. Wherever I went, either in a vast expanse of verdant bamboo sea, or in the dense spinulose tree fern groves, I saw water falls and cascades of different poses and styles everywhere. Shizhangdong Waterfall, 80 m wide, dropping 76 m is of a great momentum. Changshiti Waterfall, high and elegant, looks like a dancing fairy maiden. Sidonggou Waterfalls of distinctive scene are too beautiful to be absorbed all at once. Numerous cascades tumble down the deep valley like pieces of white silk suspending on the sheer cliffs. The waterfalls and cascades lash at the rocks, producing water mist with unreal images and weaving into a network full of temptation to make one entranced and linger on without any thought of leaving.
