吴鞠通运用温热药治温病主要有四个方面：温病初起，表证较重，酌佐辛温疏表邪；风寒外束，内热郁遏，运用辛温以解肌；身湿兼寒，肌表郁闭，非用温药邪不解，湿热相合，三焦弥漫，不避辛温化湿浊。
