Abstract: In this short essay, the author tries to demonstrate the relationship between implicature and topic through Clinton Faces The Nation. Briefly, implicatures may topicalize, anaphorize, advance, shift and penestrate into a certain topic. It is certainly a wise idea to make such use of implicatures for the speaker, so as it is an interesting approach to get more out of what is said thanheard by analyzing the relationship between implicature and topic.
