邓小平关于社会主义本质的理论，是当代科学社会主义的基石，是邓小平理论的核心。它对社会主义的根本任务、根本方向、根本目标进行了全面、深刻的论述。邓小平把“消灭剥削，消除两极分化”纳入社会主义的本质，而没有把“公有制”、“按劳分配”两句话概括进去，并不是否定社会主义的生产资料所有制形式和产品分配形式，而是从更深层次上，从最终的定义上概括社会主义本质的。

Deng Xiaoping's thesis about the true nature of socialism is the foundation of modern scientific socialism,and is the core of Deng Xiaoping's theory. It has an all-round and deep discussion of the fundamental obligation,orientation and objectives of socialism.Deng Xiaoping included 'elimination of exploitations' and 'elimination of two extremes' populization' in the essence of socialism,but did not include 'public ownership' and 'distribution to each according to his work',but not negating 'the ownership production materials' and 'products distributional style' of socialism;however,at deeper level and as final definition,did he generalize the essence of socialism.
