INTRODUCTION TO THE RELATIONSHIP OF MODERN CHINESE AND FOREIGN LITERATURE

19世纪中叶至20世纪初叶半个世纪中，中国社会经历了政治历史的重大变化，这种变化，导致了外来文化对中国传统文化的冲撞，产生了“中体西用”论、洋务派、维新派等一系列文化思潮与流派，兴起了翻译的高潮，这个结果，引发了中国文学的变革──开始了与外来文学的冲突、交往与融合，使中国文学史自此掀开了新的一页。半个世纪的社会历史变化是文学变革的前提与条件.

From the mid-19th century to the early 20th century, China underwent great political and historical changes. These changes caused a violent clash of foreign literature with traditional Chinese literature. Thus, a series of cultural thoughts and factions such as the theory of stressing the tradition & making foreign things serve China,the factions of the Westernization Movement and the Modernization appeared and the climax of translation sprang up.The result led to the reform of Chinese literatre. It began to clash with foreign literature and also to communicate,even to integrate with it. This opened a new chapter in the history of Chinese literature. The political and historical changes served as the prerequisite and condition for the literary reform.
