Abstract Wu Yuxiao,a wellknown writer,joins the revolutionary ranks when he was only 11 years old.Nurtured in the spirist of revolution and tempered in the revolutionary wars,he becomes an outstanding dramatist.This article gives an account of his revisit to Yan'an in 1997,where he has been recalling Zhu De playing basketball,Wang Zhen,commander of Brigade 359,leading his army unit back to Yan'an from Central Plains after having broken out of an encirclenent,and Mao Zedong going to an opera perfrmance and enjoying himself there. All of those scense are what Wu Yuxiao has personally experiemced,and they are vividly presented here.Those events can also support the way in which he began shaping his literary ideas as a dramatist.
