叙述了贝尔实验室有关半导体器件的研制工作，主要论述了早期半导体器件的开发，点接触晶体管和结型晶体管，场效应晶体管（ＦＥＴ），发光二极管（ＬＥＤｓ），里德二极管（ＩＭＰＡＴＴ）。

This paper describes Bell Laboratories research and development of the semiconductor element and device. It relates briefly the development of the semiconductor devices in early stage,the point conduct transistor and the junction transistor,field effect transistor (FET),light emitting diodes (LED S),the Read diodes (IMPATT),and the photovoltaic cell.
