A PERFECT PAIR——Thoughts on the Creation of the Environmental Sculpture for the Wuliduan Flyover, Hefei Anhui Province

在乒乓球赛场上,即使把男子单打冠军和女子单打冠军编为一组,也没有百分之百的把握夺取男女混合双打的冠军,因为虽然他们个人的技术都很过硬,却还有一个能否做到密切配合的问题。在城市环境景观设计中也存在着这个问题。城市的环境景观设计,不是某一个专业的专家、设计人员能够全部完成的,必须是多门类的专家共同参与,密切合作才能收到良好的效果。好的城市环境、景观设计,必须是由建筑、规划、园林、雕塑。

Personal experience in the creation of environmental sculptures for the Wulidun Flyover in Hefei, Anhui province.Under the flyover are four plots of green areas, two of which are inaccessible and the other two(Lot A and Lot B) are accessible. My own design scheme is put forward on the basis of giving full consideration to the building, planning and greening designs, Several groups of sculptures are made.On both sides of the central square in Lot A are works entitled Positive and Negative Pyramid Series. And in the central square of Lot A, an abstract sculpture entitled Yulan consisting of flowing lines and spheroids is erected. The work entitled Shining Forever like the Sun and the Moon, which consists of three spherosomes, is built in Lot B. In the central part of Lot B is an abstract work entitled Crawling Dragon.In the systematic engineering of environmental arts, sculptural design should be equipped with the conception of viewing the situation as a whole. The relations among various factors of the concrete environmental space in which the sculpture is erected should be handled well.
